What is the difference between Dynamic and Condenser microphones? Condenser Mics are more expensive and more sensitive this includes lavalier and shotgun mics. Dynamic Mics are more rugged and require no power. What is directionality? Directionality refers to the direction that which the microphone picks up the most sound. There are omnidirectional mics that pick up noise from all directions and Cardioid mics that are less sensitive to noises coming from the sides and back. Why would you use a Lavalier? A  Shotgun? A Handheld Dynamic? Lavalier Mics are best used for interviews television or live performances where each person's voice is the only important sound and they intend to move with the mic. Most shotgun mics are used for long-distance recording when attaching a mic is not an option.   After watching the 5:00pm local news I think that a segment related to the economy would be a good weekly addition to the  CVTV Show. I believe it is important to talk about the state of the economy seeing as our viewers are young adults who do not have a copious amount of money and would likely benefit from the information. In addition, we already speak about the economy when we relay job opportunities from businesses so it would not be completely out of our comfort zone. It would not be hard to obtain information on the current state of the economy, The segment would mostly be talking about the increase in prices of specific items or overall inflation. The only problem I see with this is that we would need to avoid getting political with a topic like this. As long as the segments are reviewed for political bias I think this type of report can become a very interesting and useful tool for CVTV viewers.

  What is Dynamic Range? Dynamic range is the range between the softest and loudest sounds a device can handle and the difference between the softest and loudest part of an audio signal. How does it affect sound recording? Changing the Dynamic range by compressing or expanding parts of the audio will change the way your audio is received this is specifically important with music. A lower compressed dynamic range will lead to a more similar volume level with all parts in a recording  Why is metering important?  VU meters are very good at representing the average of what is being produced and therefore they sacrifice exact accuracy to represent what the human ear will receive in a recording. It is very important to be able to control the volume for human ears and using a VU meter is the best way to accurately do this. How can it help us with our sound recording?   I think we had a lot of success with this opener, my storyboard was detailed enough that the actors mostly knew what they were doing without too much explaining and we were able to get most of the shots done in one or two takes. A problem was the lack of visibility in the masks that were required caused my actors to bump into stuff often requiring us to do another take. The only other problem is that the opener was slightly rushed due to the time limit and the fact that both of my actors needed to make openers this week as well.
