investigation blog post

This week I worked on more things that are necessary for my final animation and prepped my statue model for 3d printing.

I started by creating lightning because I remembered it would be important for my finale animation and I did not create it while experimenting with fire and destruction like I had planned. I followed this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dblHLxyE7BU

In the creation of the bolt shape I was required to use a lot of modifiers like I never had before I thought it was interesting that the order modifiers are listed in changes how they effect the mesh and the copying 3 displacement modifiers changed the effect that the displacement had but I was very happy with how it turned out.

the next thing that I attempted was moving my fire simulation which was in a different file to the file with my scene. I thought I could export this as a .dae but that just gave me a model. I tried looking it up and it said to export alembic but when I did that it only exported the movement animation of the domaine with no actual fluid smoke and fire. I forgot to ask you about this on friday but hopefully you know how to export it, if not I will just recreate it in the other file.

And finally I prepared my model for printing.

When I started prepping my model it was in no shape to print, it had over 400 non-manifold edges and interior geometry but with good time I figured out the best way to fix non-manifold edges  because pressing make manifold just turned my model into thumbs and removed the interior geometry, all I have left is the non manifolds that are on the hands which I will do next monday.

weekly work log:

Tuesday:lightning
Wednesday:lightning/attempt fire
Thursday:attempt moving fire
