Intention Definition and Exploration of Ideas:

We spent the first few weeks exploring several different concepts for art and although I was torn between art in nature and the spiritual realm. I eventually decided to create something highlighting the spiritual realm because to me it was the most interesting and I thought I could explore more of a variety of the things you can do in a blender with this theme. The topic I decided to focus on was corruption and how the overwhelming power of religion over years could lead people to do horrible things such as sacrifice. I chose this once again just because it was the most interesting part of the sacred realm for me and I knew I would enjoy creating something about it. However, all of that said. although I do want to make something meaningful, I am more concerned with improving my modeling and animation skills and exploring new parts of Blender.

Planning:

My planning mostly consisted of sketching my temple before actually creating it (based off of Mayan temples) and after all of my assets were modeled creating a storyboard with the ideas I had already had in mind.

Producing:

I started the production of my animation by learning how to create some of the new things that I would be using in my animation. This included fire which would practically be all over my scene and eventually be burning oil, lightning which would be striking my statue and destruction as the plan was for the entire temple to eventually be crushed under my statue. after that, I piece by piece designed my scene including my god statue which I used sculpt mode to create, and every other asset that I needed for the animation. and then I got to the texturing and lighting which included creating the moon and night sky and although it took me a while to get it perfect I am satisfied with how it turned out. The torch holders are made to be hands because I thought I needed a general theme for the temple and their god had four hands so it made sense. Finally I just recently thought it would be a good idea to 3d print my statue because it has been a long time since I have 3d printed anything and I am proud of my design. It should be fully printed soon although on my first attempt I made it a little too big and the machine left sort of a hole in the middle, but hopefully, I am bringing that in today.

Evaluating:

As my first project in Digital Portfolio, this was far different than the two classes before and much more independent. I think I struggled in the beginning especially since I just was not sure where to start but eventually, I do think I got back on track and started making progress in the right direction. I do wish that I did make more progress but these first two marking periods really were not my best two in any class and I believe that now I can complete this entire thing hopefully by the end of the third marking period.

Integrating:

I integrated as you would expect aspects of digital modeling and animation that I learned in the first two courses. More specifically I tackled this project with the same procedure that we used for the robot arm animation which just happened to be at the most unfortunate time last year but it was still the only actual short film of sorts that we created. I used a lot of prior knowledge but also learned a lot of new things while making this project.
