Progressive and Interlaced Scan Slow Motion and framerate
Progressive vs interlaced scan?
Progressive scans fill in each line of the frame every frame giving a full image that fills the screen. Interlaced scans fill in every other line per frame and alternate.
why does it matter?
Interlaced scans save a considerable amount of bandwidth making them more popular when technology was not as advanced. however interlaced signals can appear combing when the lines do not match this happens often with fast moving events.
why should we know the difference?
Most people are content with 1080 i and this saves bandwidth so many cable companies will stream from this however on computers it is possible to stream in 1080 p always and avoid interlaced combing. Most projects today can be done with progressive scanning but it is still good to know the difference.
Framerate and slow motion video.
