This week I focused on making My low poly model ready to actually be put into the scene by adding some sort of clothing and textures to those For his mask i just used basic hard surface modeling techniques. First I drew out the outline of what I wanted the mask to look like in vertices and connected them keeping in mind that I might want to change the elevation of individual parts. When I was finished with that I began to fill in all of the individual faces and extrude them to make a solid mask. I went back on these steps once or twice to tweak my edges and changed the elevation of some faces to give it depth. I think it is a good simple mask for my characters to wear. I wanted to put something on the bottom part of the characters and I decided that a leaf skirt type thing would be perfect. I attempted to draw out a leaf with vertices and see what I could do with it. I filled it in and applied a mirror modifier that I think made a fine looking leaf. I then duplicated it sized it u...

This week I was not all that productive because I just could not decide exactly how to continue but now I know roughly what I want to have done this marking period and how I am going to go about doing it although I am still not sure how much I will have done.  So i decided that making and rigging a model was far from worth the time it would take to do it especially because I already know how so I decided to download one from blend-swap that was pretty much the best basic male model I could find I edited the model and made it slightly better in quality by subdividing it and made it slightly skinnier like I would want my characters to be in the story in sculpt mode and hoped it would not cause any problems. satisfied with how my model looked I thought I would give Mixamo a try once again to save time and because I think it is awesome that it works so well and is free. And it worked really well my character is fully rigged and ready now with as far as I can tell no problems. At first ...

Caleb Underkoffler Caleb was the only other person who I got to see present a digital modeling presentation and I was glad to see someone else's work and sort of judge where I am at. Sadly I never got to do the character design in my digital modeling 1 class so the majority of the process that Caleb went through for this marking period I can not comment on, but it is very good to see that he has used reference images and made a sketch of his character before working on this because I imagine without that sort of planning it would have been very difficult to complete. I cannot wait to see his character in full costume and hopefully animated, I think it is a very cool concept and I would love to see it in action as I am sure Caleb would as well. Also, I do remember rigging models and how long it took so I think Mr. Bomboy's suggestion of using the website (I forget the name) was very good and for the rest of my project, I may also do it.  Zachary Willard Zach's film had s...

Intention Definition and exploration of ideas I do not have much new information to add to this section because I am still working on the same animation based on the same ideas as last time. I picked the sacred realm as my theme of art and since then I decided to make a full animation of a sacrificial procedure that inevitably fails. the scene that I decided to work on was the very important finishing scene which would have the temple destroyed by the god statue and highlight the irony of the entire situation. the reason I did this is that really I do not know if I will be able to finish the entire thing and I thought this was a scene that for now could stand on its own and it was in general one of the more fun and new things that I was excited to make. planning: I did not add anything to my planning this marking period but in general, I took an approach to this entire thing with a goal every week and an end goal of completing my destruction scene as well as finally finishing my fire s...

This week I worked on multiplying my fire simulations now that I knew how and animating my temple destruction scene the method of duplicating a flow source in edit mode under one domain worked however it left my fire simulation oddly large compared to the flow source and oddly enough making the flow source smaller did not change the size of the simulation it looks a little weird in rendered but it is still  successfully duplicated and honestly i am happy with how little lag the fire pits caused. The torches on the other hand although they looked very good after duplication they caused some extreme lag in my file when baked  I also attempted to create my destruction simulation now so it could be done for my final production blog post I also created a simulation for my temples destruction. this was a massive headache, i attempted to make it so the shards of the temple would only seperate when a certain velocity hit them but i could only make it when there was a collision which c...

This week I further worked on completing my destruction scene and the fire I would need in my scene the first thing i did was clean up and spray-paint my 3d print of the statue and although there were a few scuffed areas I think it looks very good. the next thing i did was fix my temple fragments because for some reason my cell fracture had created the pieces that I made and thousands of useless vertices that were lagging my file so i deleted them by moving all of my important pieces and destroying the others. and finally i finished making my final fries simulation that would go inside my oil pit in the middle of my temple. I will consider making a texture for this which has it as blue at the bottom of the flame because that might look interesting.  This week I worked on the destruction scene in my temple again. Last week cell fracturing my temple did not work and I tried messing with the cell fracture settings but that did not fix it for the temple. Messing with the edges and vertices of my temple is what really solved it there were double edges and some other interior parts that deleting made it look much better   The only other thing I worked on as of this week was animating my statue falling once again to try and complete the destruction scene. weekly work log: Monday:destruction Tuesday:destruction Wednesday:destruction Thursday: Friday:statue animation
