Progressive and Interlaced Scan Slow Motion and framerate

 Progressive vs interlaced scan? Progressive scans fill in each line of the frame every frame giving a full image that fills the screen. Interlaced scans fill in every other line per frame and alternate. why does it matter? Interlaced scans save a considerable amount of bandwidth making them more popular when technology was not as advanced. however interlaced signals can appear combing when the lines do not match this happens often with fast moving events. why should we know the difference? Most people are content with 1080 i and this saves bandwidth so many cable companies will stream from this however on computers it is possible to stream in 1080 p always and avoid interlaced combing. Most projects today can be done with progressive scanning but it is still good to know the difference. Framerate and slow motion video.

The Camera- White Balance

  What is White Balance? White Balance is the camera's way to adjust to different temperatures of light so an image will appear as you see it with your eyes which automatically adjusts. It does this by adding a specific amount of the opposite color to make it reach the equilibrium of white light. How is color temperature measured? Color temperature despite being completely reliant on color is measured through Kelvin which is a unit of heat. The higher the Kelvin the closer the light is too bright orange and the lower kelvin is closer to dark blue. Why should a photographer know how to change the white balance in their camera? It is important for a photographer to know how to change their white balance because with all of the factors that affect the natural temperature of light it may be necessary to change the white balance if you want the image to appear crisp and accurate. The Camera- ISO and Gain

What is ISO ISO is a setting in the camera that changes the camera sensitivity to light. Changing This can make an image appear brighter with the drawback that the image has more visual noise. This will make it appear more grainy. You could use higher ISO when the scene is darker and you cannot use shutter speed or aperture to adjust without ruining the scene. And in contrast, when the scene is too bright you can use lower ISO to decrease exposure. 100 200 400 800 1600 A series of images we took at increasing ISO's and adjusted for brightness with shutter speed and aperture. If you look closely you will notice the increasing noise What is Gain Gain has the same effect as ISO, increasing the camera's sensitivity to light, however, gain can be used to change the lighting during a video. You can increase the gain to increase exposure or decrease gain to decrease exposure during a film.

The Camera- Aperture and Iris

  What is aperture? What aperture controls is how wide or narrow the opening of your lens is while taking a photo. You can shrink the lens with a higher aperture allowing less light to enter or expand it with a lower aperture allowing more light to flood in. This has a direct effect on exposure and depth of field. A picture I took with a very low aperture demonstrates the bouquet effect. How does aperture affect exposure? By changing the amount of light entering your lens you affect the exposure of your photo every time you change the aperture. With a higher aperture, your scene will be darker and with a lower aperture, your scene will appear more bright. What is shutter speed, and why is it so important? Shutter speed is an important tool in photography as it controls the amount of motion blur that will appear in a single photo. What shutter speed actually controls is how long the shutter stays open, the longer it is open the more time we get to see in a photo which is shown by motion blur I believe this image is a good example of how shutter speed works because it shows that in one image you can see my full motion  of opening the door which leaves my entire looking elongated with  motion blur This photo is another example of slow shutter speed  and how the shutter staying open longer captured my  entire figure 8 movement with the light over a few seconds  How is shutter speed measured?
